UWSP Tenants receive exclusive preview of the STEM Connect Programme

A select group of UWSP tenants were invited to an exclusive preview of the University of Warwick’s ambitious STEM Connect Programme. Led by Rachael Kirwan from the Warwick Innovation District’s Business Partnerships team and hosted by the STEM Connect Team, the visit offered a behind-the-scenes look at the university’s investment in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The afternoon began at the Venture Centre reception before attendees took a short walk to Warwick Manufacturing Group’s International Manufacturing Centre (IMC). The tour included key STEM Connect facilities and the National Automotive Innovation Centre, concluding with a presentation and immersive experience in the STEM Connect Visualisation Suite.

Attendees were introduced to the three phases of the STEM Connect initiative, which aims to reshape STEM education, research and collaboration across the region. The session also showcased the forthcoming Collaboration Hub – a space designed to support partnerships through shared facilities, lab provisions and public engagement areas.

Professor Mark Williams, Academic Director of STEM Connect, said: “The investment in STEM Connect clearly demonstrates our commitment to fostering innovation and advancing research that has real-world impact.  The state-of-the-art infrastructure will underpin the delivery of our pioneering education programmes, as well as strengthening our global reputation as a leader in STEM research.”

The group was also joined by Jayne Mourinho from the Student Opportunity team and Catherine Louch from the Business Partnerships team, who shared valuable insights on future engagement opportunities.

The visit created an ideal setting for meaningful discussion and exploration of future collaboration. Thank you to Rachael for organising and to the STEM Connect team for hosting. We look forward to building closer links between the Science Park community and the University of Warwick through upcoming joint events.
