Lunch time litter picking at the University of Warwick

Members of the University of Warwick Science Park team, Carol and Aman, recently took part in the Warwick Wombles Litter Pick, an initiative organised by the Environmental Sustainability team at the University of Warwick.

This monthly event brings together volunteers to help keep the campus clean and green, focusing on a different area each time. During this month’s lunchtime session, the group managed to collect an impressive 18.7 kilograms of litter – a fantastic effort contributing to a cleaner, safer environment for everyone who uses the campus.

Reflecting on the experience, Aman said: “It was great to get involved with the Warwick Wombles and see how small actions like this can make a real difference. It’s always rewarding to give back to the community and help protect the environment we all share, and it was quite a nice way to spend a lunchtime break too!”

An added bonus came from Sustainability Assistant, Dalma Zsalakó, who shared that hedgehogs have made their home in the area. Knowing that these efforts are not only improving the visual appeal of the campus but also supporting local wildlife made the day especially rewarding.

At the University of Warwick Science Park, we’re proud to support activities that promote sustainability and community engagement.
