Minerva End of Year Event 2019

Minerva Business Angels, part of the University of Warwick Science Park holds its end of year event on the 16th December 2019 at Warwick Business School.

Minerva brings together all its angels at this one event to network and further support pre invested companies.  On the day the 16 companies will be pitching to around 100 investors.

2019 has also been an eventful year in the life of Minerva with the launch of Minerva Birmingham together with Aston University and the University of Birmingham, Minerva Northwest with Sci-Tech Daresbury Science Park and Minerva Nottingham together with University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University.

Over the past 12 months, Minerva Business Angels have grown to one of the largest traditional based angel networks in the UK and was a finalist in the UK British Angel Awards Regional Angel of the year.

Fifty-one companies have been supported with their investment journey, amounting to 130 pitches this year alone!

Over £31mn has been raised from Minerva’s angels who have supported £63mn in investment since its inspection in 1994 and its current format (a syndicate) formed in 2010. It is truly a dynamic organisation.

An objective of Minerva Business Angels is to get better local engagement from those in the Midlands and Northwest, who have never thought about angel investing to become engaged and help go some way to address the regional investment balance.

Of the £1.9bln invested through the Enterprise Investment Scheme, (which is a tax relief system to help support individual investment into SME’s), 70% of the £1.9mn is invested in the South East.

Getting more people involved will help support our local entrepreneurs and hopefully help stop the flight of talent and jobs down south in search of money.
