Automotive firm expands to meet growing demands

A company which specialises in the design and manufacturing of automotive interiors is set to expand its Coventry office.

Treves, which is based in Paris and has a factory in Yorkshire, launched its office in the city at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley last summer.

The office was opened in the city to be close to Jaguar Land Rover as the company, which was founded in 1830 and is still family run, is currently working on two projects with the automotive giant.

A further three projects, that will be developed over the next five to seven years, are also in the pipeline.

And that’s why Treves, which makes carpets, trunk trims, parcel trays and roller blinds for a range of car-makers across the world, is already looking to grow its presence at the Business Innovation Centre.

Ian Boyce, who heads up the Coventry office, said: “We always planned to grow here but we thought it would take two to three years, rather than six months!

“There are four permanent staff based in this office but we are also a base for project teams coming over from France or for people coming down from Yorkshire who are working on the projects with Jaguar Land Rover.

“They are very exciting projects – one of which is on the company’s new electrical vehicle, which will go into production in around a year’s time.”

He added: “Being a family-run company still means we can be light on our feet and reactive – despite the fact that the business employs 5,000 worldwide.

“And the flexibility of the space here at the Science Park should hopefully help us to expand our office here quickly.”

Jane Talbot, of the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre, helped the company move into the office and will assist with its expansion.

She said: “The automotive sector in Coventry and Warwickshire is thriving and Treves is another company we have helped to attract to the city and are now helping to grow.

“We try to be as flexible as possible with our tenants here so they can grow at a pace that suits them and it’s great to see Treves already looking to expand.

“The Innovation Centre is very popular – along with the Science Park’s other centres across the region – but we will still work with companies such as Treves to accommodate their needs.”
