Network Appliance which provides data storage and network solutions for the majority of the UK’s top companies has moved to Riley Court, a new development on the University of Warwick Science Park.

The U.S. company first opened a Coventry base five years ago with just four staff, but now employs more than 25 and has room to double its workforce

The new 7,000 sq ft centre will serve a range of clients in the Midlands including many Formula 1 racing teams, Land Rover, Peugeot and Barclays.

Tim Pitcher, Network Appliance vice president of Northern Europe and the Middle East, said the company had chosen Coventry for two reasons.

He said: “We were first attracted here by the location of the city which is ideal - it must be one of the most easily accessible locations in the UK.

“We have also found the staff in Coventry to be superb. There is a high level of expertise and that has helped drive us forward.

“We have taken a whole floor at Riley Court and it is perfect for us. We have enough room to expand as our market share grows and it is ideally located for us to demonstrate our products to clients.

“There has been an explosion in company data in recent years and we provide solutions including specialised hardware, software, and services, to provide seamless storage management for networks and to ensure efficient transfer of data.

“The information companies now have to store grows by 70 per cent every year which is colossal and presents a major issue.”

That growth in the market has seen Network Appliance, which was founded in 1992, open 32 offices employing more than 3,000 staff.

David Grindrod, of the University of Warwick Science Park, said Network Appliance’s move to Riley Court meant the new building was almost 50 per cent let.

“Network Appliance is a growing company which is looking to strengthen its presence in the city and to grow its business which is good news all round.

“Riley Court has been designed to cater for companies who have outgrown our incubation units, or expanding who would benefit from a range of business support services offered through the Science Park.”

Riley Court features 40,000 sq ft of space and can be adapted to offer between 2,000 sq ft and up to 12,000 sq ft to individual companies.

The services range from telephone answering to assistance in sourcing funding.

The building includes many energy saving features such as low cost water heating, while the design of the centre reduces the need for expensive air conditioning.
