A world leading air-conditioning and comfort cooling company has breezed into Solihull.

Seeley International originated in Australia more than 30 years ago but now sells its products in the home, commercial and industrial markets across 60 countries. The new office at the Blythe Valley Innovation Centre is to be the firm’s European base for sales, marketing and finance. It will also carry out technical liaison with the company’s research and development team in Australia to tailor products for the European market.

Seven jobs have been created with the opening of the new offices to cope with demand from across the continent. Paul Proctor, Managing Director of Seeley International, said: “Our site at Blythe Valley is to serve as our office to take care of our Pan-European operation. “It is perfect for links across the UK and also offers easy access to the whole of Europe via Birmingham Airport. “We believe there is not a better location to serve our needs on the continent and we are very optimistic about our future here.”

Seeley was set up more than 30 years ago as it developed the world’s first all-plastic, non-corrodible evaporative cooler. The company currently spends around £2 million on research and development as it aims to produce products that are even more environmentally friendly and healthy. The move to the Blythe Valley Park, which is owned and run in partnership between British Land and Solihull Borough Council, has been welcomed.

Norman Childs, from University of Warwick Science park who manage the Innovation Centre, said: “This is very good news for the Park and for Solihull as a whole. “It’s great that a world leader in its field that is so committed to future product development has chosen the Innovation Centre as its European base. “It can only serve to enhance the area’s reputation as a fantastic area to do business.”

Seeley offers both portable and fixed coolers which are environmentally friendly and can be run far more cost effectively than conventional air conditioning systems.
