Riding the web services surge
A University of Warwick Science Park company's innovative approach to improving business performance is reaping its clients' big rewards.
In stark contrast to many IT businesses, hyfinity, based at the Innovation Centre, Blythe Valley, in Solihull is riding a wave of success. The company has designed a software platform that improves business performance by developing web service solutions in complex business environments.
Nissan Europe is hyfinity's latest blue chip client to benefit from the technology. Steve Bailey, hyfinity's eBusiness Architect explains, "When Nissan decided to re-engineer its supply chain systems they set themselves an aggressive target of reducing pipeline stock by 50%, while improving lead times by 30%. We were selected to provide the solution, which is multi lingual and has powerful track and trace facilities. We are already helping Nissan to achieve its ambitious business objectives."
Endorsing the progress, Mike Wylie, Nissan's Section Manager, Systems Development, Corporate Information Systems comments, "Like so many multinational, manufacturing operations with plants across Europe, plus a network of national distributors and dealership chains, we have suffered from disparate IT solutions. hyfinity was selected to do develop the dealer-linked applications, allowing them to perform searches for a specific model, review their own pipeline, explore availability from other dealers and place orders-with real time links-to the production system."
Steve is convinced that being based at the prestigious Innovation Centre has helped the company achieve its success. He emphasises that the quality environment and the management support makes for good business. Adding that the address and general ethos of the Centre "always impresses our customers."
So successful has hyfinity been, it has prompted Europe's leading independent IT analyst company, Bloor Research, to comment in glowing terms, on the company's products. The authoritative journal has recently stated "The products have been shown to have industrial strength solutions, which are capable of modification and extension in a highly effective manner. hyfinity has arrived at just the right moment to drive the web services surge we expect in 2004."
