Blythe for Business
Start-up businesses through to multi nationals all agree that the University of Warwick's Innovation Centre at Blythe Valley Business Park, Solihull, is good for business.
Dynistics Ltd, a rapidly accelerating start up company is a case in point. Specialising in software that aggregates customer data across Internet, computer and wireless platforms, the company was attracted to Blythe Valley by the access to good quality labour and supportive Centre management. Managing Director Anthony Dent says that he finds that 'the management can empathise with new businesses as they have had commercial experience. The Science Park environment tends to nurture new businesses rather than smother them.'
Holland based multi national OnGuard is at the other end of the corporate scale. The company is a market leader, across Europe, in business-to-business credit management software. Needing to support its business expansion in the UK and service clients in Birmingham, Manchester and London, Solihull was selected as the ideal location. Maarten de Wild, the company's Managing Director explains, 'The Innovation Centre provides extremely cost efficient and high quality accommodation especially when compared to London. It's at the centre of the UK's motorway system and Birmingham International Airport makes commuting from Holland fairly easy.'
Access to management initiatives such as the Knowledge, Innovation and Technology Transfer (KITTS) programmes at the University of Warwick was one of the determinants that convinced the management of hyfinity® to move to Blythe Valley. Counting a major automotive manufacturer among its clients, hyfinity® specialises in web services and creating integrated eBusiness networks in multi platform environments.
'As well as using the KITTS programme, we have recruited Warwick and Coventry University graduates. We find that their ability to think creatively and in abstract terms extremely effective in developing solutions to complex corporate organisational problems,' says eBusiness Architect Steve Bailey.
Centre Manager Bill Bagguley comments, 'By attracting a wide spectrum of IT businesses, the Innovation Centre is fulfilling a vital role in generating high value employment within the region. We see such companies as key economic growth points and complementary to the West Midlands more traditional manufacturing economy.'
