Innovation Centre showcases Reverse Auctions
Over fifty delegates recently attended an evening conference to hear how their organisations could become more competitive by sourcing purchases through a unique Internet 'reverse' auction process.
The event was hosted by the University of Warwick Science Park based SynerDeal Ltd at the Science Park's Business Innovation Centre, Binley, Coventry. The delegates, members of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, saw a live trial demonstration auction featuring a 'purchaser' and two 'buyers'. Chris Lowe, the Institute's Birmingham Branch Chairman commented, "The unprecedented attendance with members coming from right across the region, confirms the high level of interest in the subject. We are grateful to the Science Park management for their help in providing the conference facilities, assisting with organising the event, free car parking and reception personnel. It all contributed to make the evening a great success."
The reverse auction process allows a purchaser to offer a contract live, on the Internet, to a number of suppliers. Each supplier will have been verified as appropriate and given a code to ensure companies do not know the identity of the competition they are bidding against. The process generally achieves the true market price.
"The Business Innovation Centre not only offers high quality business accommodation on short-term leases but also has all the facilities available to host such events. It's very important when you are showcasing your products and services to potential customers that you have the right quality environment and support," adds SynerDeal's David Bricknell
