UK assignments
Consultancy assignments have been undertaken in the UK to assess the market and financial feasibility of new Science Park initiatives. The first of these was Newtech in NE Wales in 1995; appointed by NE Wales Institute to investigate their role in the development of a number of potential Science Park sites in the NE Wales region in co-operation with Local Authorities and the Welsh Development Agency. This project was undertaken under the EU SPRINT Science Park Consultancy Scheme.
The second was the Cranfield Innovation Centre (Bedfordshire) in 1996; appointed by Mid Beds District Council to undertake a financial viability study, a market appraisal and user demand survey for a proposed innovation centre on the Cranfield University Technology Park. As a result of this study Mid Beds District Council committed to the construction of the innovation centre on the Cranfield Science Park. The building is today nearing completion with several highly appropriate potential tenants waiting to take up space.
An implementation consultancy assignment to develop the first phase of the Malvern Science Park (Herefordshire) based on the UK Government's defence research centre at that location. Appointed by Hereford and Worcester District Council 1997. This is an ongoing contract where we are required to project manage the development of the buildings for the first phase of the new Science Park, develop the 5 year plan for the Park, recruit and train the Science Park manager and develop the plans for the technology transfer and SME creation programmes for the Science Park.
