What we are and do

  • We are a base for both International technology based business and dynamic start ups. Our land and buildings are all designed and maintained to high standards in very attractive landscaped settings.
  • We have well thought out links to the University of Warwick’s academic and research capabilities and to many of its services and facilities.
  • We deliver proactive Business Support Services for entrepreneurs and smaller technology based businesses in the region.
  • We provide "satellite" Innovation Centres around the region operated by us, providing geographical choice for local start up businesses, all with the same business support infrastructure as our main campus site.
  • We conduct consultancy assignments in the UK, Europe and Eastern Europe for organisations planning or developing science and technology parks and related activities linked to the commercialisation of technology as a driver for economic development and technology transfer.
  • We are strategically located within the UK. Our setting is beside the playing fields of one of the most attractive University campuses in Europe.

Structure and Objectives of the Science Park

  • The University of Warwick Science Park (UWSP) was established in 1982 as a joint venture company owned by the University of Warwick, Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council, and the West Midlands Enterprise Board.

  • The objectives of the partnership in establishing the Science Park were:

  • Generating the right environment for the new technology based businesses of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
  • Stimulating an increased rate of interaction between the University and technology based businesses - to the benefit of both.
  • Accelerating the development of technology based business sector in the region.

The Development of the Science Park

From the opening of its first building in February 1984 to today we have, like many of our clients, grown out of all recognition. Today we have:

  • Property for start ups and small businesses of 1 - 20 staff.
  • Buildings for the growth stage of a business (20 - 100 staff)
  • Buildings and land for companies reaching more than 100 staff
  • All in all this adds up to over 125 businesses on the Science Park in more than 400,000 sq ft of premises.
